Conscious Sleep

Conscious Sleep

In my adventure of living awake I have asked the universal wisdom many questions about sleep including how to get good sleep, how to sleep less and still be vital and how to manage lack of sleep (I’m a parent of a young one). I am deeply practicing what I have been taught and  just finished a program entitled “conscious sleep for those who are awake”  which has blown me away in revealing the true gifts of sleep and the sleeping worlds. Here is an excerpt from some of what I have received.

Conscious sleeping for those who are awake

“A fully awake human requires none of what we call sleep. Sleep serves as a function of a being who has forgotten how to naturally replenish themselves through their breath, diet, meditation and connection to the eternal source.”

The true purpose of sleep is to bring the body back to harmony between the twin forces of the conscious and unconscious. The more a being can consciously rest in the black void of their unconscious the less need there is for sleep. Sleep serves the body, mind and emotions to recalibrate themselves back to the source from where they come. In this recalibration the body connects with the sacred energy of Earth and restores imbalances caused by over identification with thoughts, emotions and sensations.

The place to start with reclaiming your sleep as a conscious experience is with the gateway into sleep. In the time before you go to sleep you have great power to shape how well and how long you sleep. With conscious practice of the principles I will share you can quite easily (it might not feel like it for a while) shift your sleep to about four hours a night and be completely replenished. The dissolving of the last four hours is a much deeper process and not one we will work with yet.

How to go to sleep- a beginning practice

Know that the true function of sleep is to help you completely dissolve identification with thoughts then emotions then the whole body. If you can consciously do this before you sleep then much less work is required when you sleep and you will sleep deeper, better and need less.

The first step to consciously dissolve identification is with our most sacred gift, the gift of breath. When you sleep you know that your breath slows down significantly and there is a deep rhythm to it. If you can imitate this breath consistently through your whole body before you sleep you will experience peace and warmth that will open the gateway to conscious sleep.

The Practice

Here’s how to do it… Lie down in bed, (ideally before 10 pm) and get as comfortable as you can. If an eye pillow assists you to surrender the energy in the eyes then use one. Slow down your breathing; taking long deep breaths into your belly through your nose and out your mouth. Breathe like this until you find a rhythm and surrender into this flow. As you mind wanders image yourself letting go of everything that has occurred throughout the day. Letting go of people, places, thoughts, emotions. Imagine you are gathering all your presence that you have put out into the world back into your belly with the breath. Let go of everybody and everything. If required give thanks of forgive yourself or others for anything that you are still holding on to. Give up all your hopes, dreams and goals. Give up everything that you identify as you. Keep giving all this up until there is nothing but the rhythm of the breath moving up and down. Keep sinking deeper and deeper into this rhythm.

Through this you will find access to deep peace and over time you will see an improvement in the quality of your sleep and the vitality with which you wake up. Many of us fall into sleep so exhausted we cannot think or are too busy in the head to give in to sleep. In both these case the conscious sleeping program will allow you to enter consciously into the gateway of sleep, and receive more benefit from this sacred act of sleeping”

Conscious Sleeping CD coming soon.

I have recently recieved the full Conscious sleeping program which includes a guide on the true purpose of sleep and practices to awaken the hidden worlds beyond sleep. It also includes the three stages of the conscious sleep practice, recorded in three exercises/meditations. The book and the three meditations make up a complete program to thoroughly redesign your experience of sleep. Through these practices you can dissolve tension, reduce the amount you need to sleep, enter other dimensions and more.

If you want to receive this course when its ready (early November 2010) or if you have other questions about conscious sleeping or want to share how you go with the practice above then contact me.

I would love to hear from you. I will respond quickly and it will add to the creation of the wisdom about conscious sleeping.
